2025 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport facelift revealed

The facelifted 2025 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been revealed in Thailand, previewing changes we can expect to see in Australia later this year.

Just one day after leaked images of the updated SUV appeared online, covers have officially come off the Pajero Sport, bringing minor tweaks to extend the life of the ageing model.

Australian timing and specifications for the facelifted Mitsubishi Pajero Sport are expected to be announced this month.

As previously reported, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will gain a new front grille insert and lower bumper garnish, though its headlights and fog lights are unchanged.

There are also new alloy wheel designs, plus a minor revision to its existing rear bumper – while the Thai-market Elite Edition variant, similar to Australia’s GSR, gains black tailgate trim and black mirror caps and door handles instead of the existing chrome.

Inside, changes are minor, with a three-spoke steering wheel from the new Mitsubishi Triton replacing the dated four-spoke wheel.

There are revised graphics for the 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as a 12.1-inch fold-down screen for rear passengers and quilted leather seats.

There are other Triton-inspired changes too, such as a new ‘4N16’ 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, producing 135kW and 430Nm.

It’s unclear if that will be exclusive to Thailand-delivered examples, or if it will replace the current 133kW/430Nm turbo-diesel engine currently offered in Australia.

The higher output 150kW/470Nm twin-turbo engine of the new Triton hasn’t been slotted into the updated Pajero Sport, with the SUV sticking with a single turbocharger.

This facelift is the second for the Pajero Sport, following an update in late 2019 which came four years after its 2015 launch.

It’s unclear when the next generation will launch. The Pajero Sport is based on the outgoing Triton ute, of which a new-generation model is now reaching Australia.
