Interested in a Toyota Kluger?

The 2024 Toyota Kluger is now up to $2630 more expensive after the popular large SUV was hit with a price rise across all variants.

Only the Kluger Grande 2WD hasn’t gone up by $2630, but its $2623 price rise is just a few dollars off.

“These changes came into effect on 4 March 2024 due to increased costs and inflationary pressures both here and overseas,” a spokesperson for Toyota Australia told CarExpert.

The Toyota Kluger’s account now opens at $54,420 before on-road costs for the GX 2WD, a $6770 increase on when the current generation model debuted in 2021 – though at the time, the base model was powered by a 3.5-litre V6 rather than a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder.

The cheapest hybrid Kluger variant is priced from $60,920 before on-roads in GX eFour guise, also a $6770 rise compared to the first iterations of the current-generation SUV.

At the top of the range, the flagship Kluger Grande eFour Hybrid is priced from $82,860 before on-road costs, making it the most expensive variant in the nameplate’s Australian history.

There aren’t any features or specification changes to the Toyota Kluger for 2024, which continues to be offered with three drivetrain combination variants across each of its three grades.

    Drivetrains

The Toyota Kluger’s non-hybrid versions are powered by a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 198kW of power and 420Nm of torque.

This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which sends drive to either the front wheels or an all-wheel drive system.

The Toyota Kluger Hybrid adopts a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine – producing 142kW and 242Nm on its own – to three motor generators, one on the front axle and two on the rear.

Its total system output is 184kW, and drive is sent to all four wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

    Efficiency

The Toyota Kluger variants powered by the 2.4-litre turbocharged non-hybrid engine and with front-wheel drive consume a claimed 8.3L/100km on the combined cycle.

Kluger GX and GXL variants with the 2.4-litre turbocharged non-hybrid engine and all-wheel drive use a claimed 8.5L/100km on the combined cycle, whereas the Grande variant’s claim rises to 8.7L/100km.

All Toyota Kluger Hybrid variants consume a claimed 5.6L/100km on the combined cycle.

Non-hybrid Kluger variants have a 68L fuel tank and require a minimum of 91 octane regular unleaded petrol, while hybrid variants are fitted with a 65L fuel tank and require a minimum of 95 octane premium unleaded petrol.

    Dimensions

The Toyota Kluger measures in at 4966mm long, 1930mm wide and 1755mm tall, riding on a 2850mm wheelbase.

Boot space with all three rows of seating upright is quoted as 241L, expanding to 552L with the third row folded and 1150L when the second row is also dropped.

Braked towing capacity for all Toyota Kluger variants is 2000kg, with an unbraked towing capacity of 700kg across the board.
