Porsche is gearing up to bring another V8-powered Cayenne SUV to Australia.

The Cayenne GTS will hit local showrooms in the third quarter of 2024 with prices starting at $209,600 before on-road costs for the wagon, and $212,600 before on-road for the coupe.

When it arrives, it’ll sit above the Cayenne S wagon and coupe… but below the Cayenne Turbo GT in the range.

Porsche has the GTS formula perfected at this point. More power, a more focused suspension, more equipment, and more red highlights characterise all GTS models, from the 911 sports car to the Taycan EV, and the Cayenne ticks all the same boxes.

Power comes from a version of the 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 engine in the Cayenne S, boosted to pump out 368kW (up 29kW on the S, and 30kW on the last GTS) and 660Nm (up 60 Nm on the S, and 40Nm on the last GTS).

It’s mated with an eight-speed torque converter automatic Porsche says delivers faster shifts in Sport and Sport Plus mode, to help deliver a 100km/h sprint time of 4.4 seconds. Flat out you’ll be doing 270km/h.

Although some Cayenne owners have a 911 for track days (we assume), the GTS features an upgraded four-wheel drive transfer case lifted from the first-generation Turbo GT. It has its own water cooling circuit to keep it cool when you’re pushing hard, on track or when the kids are running particularly late to school.

You’ll be able to pick the GTS apart from the Cayenne S thanks to its unique badging, dark tinted headlights and tail lights, red brake calipers, and the high-gloss black Sport Design package.

Inside, the GT sports steering wheel is heated, and there’s swathes of suede-like Race Tex trim to hold you in place.

Eight-way adjustable sports seats are standard, and buyers can choose between black, red, and grey interior finishes.

Options in the Cayenne Coupe include a sports exhaust, a lightweight roof, and a range of lightweight packages – one of which includes less sound deadening, following in the footsteps of the 992-generation 911.

Standard equipment in the Cayenne GTS includes:

    • Metallic paint
    • Keyless entry and start
    • Privacy glass
    • Blind-spot monitoring
    • Surround-view camera with active parking assist
    • Head-up display
    • Adaptive cruise control
    • Lane keep assist
    • Ventilated front seats
    • Side airbags in the rear
    • Soft close doors
    • 14-way comfort front seats (no-cost option)
    • Digital radio

The wagon also picks up a panoramic glass roof, and power steering plus atop the equipment in the Cayenne S.
