Interested in a Cupra Ateca?

Cupra has upped pricing on the Ateca by $2240 in Australia, although it’s added DAB+ to the spec sheet to help offset it.

The offers a drive-away price nationwide for the Ateca of $68,990 in high-performance VZx guise.

The Ateca is the oldest member of the Cupra family, having started life as a hotted-up version of the Seat Ateca that entered production in 2016.

It was launched in Australia with a run of 100 Launch Edition models, featuring the optional Akrapovic exhaust.

Cupra Australia has confirmed the Ateca will not be offered in Australia long-term, as it looks to shift focus to three new electrified models.

The electrified Cupra Terramar is expected to replace the Ateca as early as next year, with a scheduled launch set for 2024.

The Terramar will offer a choice of petrol or plug-in hybrid powertrains and will measure 4.5m long, compared to 4.38m for the Ateca and 4.45m for the Formentor.

That will make it similar in size to the current standard-length Volkswagen Tiguan, which measures just over 4.5m long.

Cupra has introduced 110kW 1.5 TSI and 140kW 2.0 TSI variants of the Ateca from the third quarter of 2023 overseas, the latter with all-wheel drive, however these models will not be available in Australia.

Speaking with CarExpert, a spokesperson for Cupra said: “The high-performance VZx (221kW) powertrain is the most relevant for Ateca in the Australian market and the one we will continue with locally”.

Orders for the MY24 Cupra line-up will “be available shortly” ahead of deliveries commencing late in the third quarter of 2023. However, the company has confirmed “significant MY23 stock” is arriving into Cupra’s local dealer network at pre-adjusted pricing.
