Interested in a Suzuki Vitara?

Suzuki Australia has introduced two new blacked-out versions of its Vitara crossover for 2023.

The Vitara Shadow and Vitara Turbo Shadow are priced at $33,490 drive-away and $42,990 drive-away, respectively, and are $4500 more expensive than the variants they’re based on.

Both these Shadow models receive 17-inch black alloy wheels, black front bumper and grille inserts, a black roof spoiler, and black decals.

As previously reported, Suzuki Australia is rolling a range of permanent blacked-out variants. It technically started with the limited-edition Baleno Shadow, then the Ignis Shadow. A Swift Shadow will follow later in the year.

The rest of the Vitara range remains unchanged in terms of specification for 2023. It starts at $31,990 drive-away for the entry-level Vitara manual, and extends to $42,990 drive-away for the Vitara Turbo AWD.

The Suzuki Australia website still lists that the Vitara range receives the larger locally fitted 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment units, but Suzuki Australia general manager Michael Pachota confirmed in February the company reverted to using the factory-fitted 7.0-inch units late last year.

The current-generation Suzuki Vitara has been on sale in Australia since 2015 and received a mid-life facelift in 2019. Seeing it has now been four years since the last major update this means the two Shadow models could be the final additions for the local current-generation Vitara.

    Powertrains

The 2023 Suzuki Vitara range is available with two engines.

Base variants of the Vitara use a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 86kW of power and 156Nm of torque. This is mated to either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, with drive sent to the front wheels only.

The Vitara Turbo variants use a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 103kW and 220Nm. It’s mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission, with drive sent to the front wheels or through an all-wheel drive system.

    Efficiency

Suzuki claims the entry-level Vitara variant with the manual transmission consumes 5.8 litres per 100km on the combined cycle, whereas with the automatic it consumes 6.0 litres per 100km.

Front-wheel drive turbocharged models have a claimed combined fuel economy of 5.9 litres per 100km, whereas the flagship all-wheel drive variant consumes a claimed 6.2 lites per 100km.

Naturally aspirated Vitara models require a minimum of 91 RON unleaded petrol, whereas turbocharged models require a minimum of 95 RON premium unleaded petrol. All variants have a 47 litre fuel tank.

    Dimensions

The 2023 Suzuki Vitara measures in at 4175mm long, 1775mm wide and 1610mm tall, with a 2500mm wheelbase.

With the second row of seats upright it has 375L of boot space, which can be expanded to 710L with the rear seats folded.

    Safety and Warranty

The 2023 Suzuki Vitara is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty with five years of roadside assist.

It requires logbook servicing every 12 months or 15,000km when equipped with the naturally aspirated engine, or every 12 months or 10,000km when equipped with the turbocharged engine.

The first five services have capped prices. For non-turbo models they are priced as follows:
