Jaguar Land Rover Australia has recalled the 2021 Land Rover Defender and Discovery to fix a problem with the exhaust downpipe.

“The fixing nuts which connect the exhaust downpipe to the catalytic convertor may not have been tightened to specification,” Jaguar Land Rover says in its recall notice.

“The fixings may loosen over time, which may cause a hot exhaust gas leak into the engine bay.

“If a hot exhaust gas leak occurs, this may cause localised heat damage and, if sustained, can lead to under bonnet smoke and a vehicle fire. A vehicle fire could increase the risk injury or death to vehicle occupants or bystanders.”

    • A total of 533 vehicles are included in the recall
    • Affected cars were sold between November 2, 2020 and March 11, 2021
    • The original recall notice is attached here
    • A VIN list of affected vehicles is attached here

Jaguar Land Rover will contact owners to organise a free fix with their nearest dealer.
