BMW has issued a recall for 48 examples of its X3 and X4 from model years 2019 to 2020 due to a seatbelt defect.

“The front seat belts (driver and passenger’s side) may not be screwed on to correct specification,” the company says in its recall notice.

“If the seat belts are not secured, this could increase the risk of an accident and injury to vehicle occupants or other road users. In the event of a serious accident this may result in death.”

  • A total of 48 vehicles are affected.
  • The recall affects X3 and X4 models from model years 2019 to 2020.
  • The VIN list is attached here.

BMW is contacting owners of affected vehicles.
