The Hyundai Genesis and Genesis G80 are the latest Hyundai Motor Group models subject to an anti-lock brake module recall.
“Due to a manufacturing error, an electronic control circuit board in the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) module may short circuit when the components are exposed to moisture,” the company says in its recall notice.
“There is a risk of a fire, even when the vehicle is turned off, as the circuit is constantly powered.
“This could increase the risk of an accident, serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.
“The short circuit does not affect the functioning of the brake system.”

If you own an affected vehicle, the recall notice instructs you not to park it in a garage.
Instead, park your Hyundai Genesis or Genesis G80 outside in an open space, away from structures and flammable materials.
Hyundai is contacting owners of all affected vehicles. You’ll need to take your vehicle to a Hyundai dealer for a free repair.
If you have any further questions, you can contact Hyundai’s Customer Care Centre on 1800 186 306 or Genesis’ Customer Care Centre on 1800 908 070.
Similar recall notices have already been issued for the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage and Stinger.
