Zeekr confirms a world-first for Australia

Zeekr has opened its first-ever standalone body repair centre globally, and it's located here in Australia.

The body repair centre opened over the weekend at Five Dock in Sydney's Inner West.

Measuring 2500m2, the space has 36 repair bays and capacity to service over 150 vehicles per month.

It can also support the repair of 120 vehicles per month, with Zeekr targeting an average turnaround time of 10 days.

The facility will have eight Zeekr-trained technicians on hand, and will provide genuine Zeekr parts and "manufacturer-specific diagnostics, structural repairs, panel and paint work, and ADAS [advanced driver-assistance systems] calibration".

"Australia has become one of Zeekr's most important growth markets globally, and we're investing accordingly,” said Zeekr Australia managing director Frank Li.

"In less than two years, more than 10,000 vehicles have been delivered in Australia, making us the country's fastest-growing automotive brand and a major player in the premium EV market.

"Opening the world's first standalone Zeekr Body Repair Centre is tangible proof of our long-term commitment to Australia and the confidence we have in this market.

"As we accelerate towards 20,000 deliveries, we'll continue investing in the infrastructure, expertise and customer experience that support our next phase of growth."

The Geely-owned brand has delivered over 10,000 vehicles since arriving here late in 2024. While it got off to a bit of a sluggish start with the X small electric SUV and 009 electric people mover, the launch of the 7X mid-size electric SUV late last year gave the brand a huge jolt.

To the end of August, Zeekr has delivered 10,070 vehicles in Australia this year, more than fellow Geely-owned brands (and rivals) Volvo and Polestar, which delivered 4711 and 1481 vehicles, respectively. It's also beating Lexus (8515), Audi (7685) and Denza (2954).

Zeekr will double the size of its model lineup by the end of 2027.

The 7GT electric sports wagon will be launched during the fourth quarter (October to December) of 2026, with customer deliveries commencing in the first quarter (January to March) of 2027.

Also due on sale here in 2027 are the brand's first plug-in hybrids: the 8X large SUV, and its even larger 9X sibling.
