2027 Zeekr 7GT: Australian arrival timing locked in for electric sports wagon

The battery-powered Zeekr 7GT sports wagon will arrive in Australia before the end of 2026, and will be offered with a choice of single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrains.

It'll be launched during the fourth quarter (October to December) of 2026, joining the small X and mid-size 7X electric SUVs and the 009 electric people mover in the Chinese premium brand's local lineup.

Zeekr Australia says customer deliveries of the electric wagon will commence in the first quarter (January to March) of 2027.

The company has yet to announce 7GT pricing, but says it'll be offered in three variants: RWD, Long Range RWD, and Performance AWD.

We'll receive variants with an 800V electrical system, instead of the new 900V system launched in China. It was a similar story with the 7X, which arrived here with an 800V system just as a 900V system was being rolled out in its home market.

Here's how the Australian-market 7GT lineup stacks up:

Zeekr Australia claims a 10-80 per cent DC fast-charge will take 11 minutes in the RWD and 15 minutes in the Long Range RWD and Performance AWD, with these two variants able to be charged at up to 420kW.

The 7GT measures 4817mm long, 1910mm wide and 1456mm tall on a 2900mm wheelbase, and features a drag coefficient of 0.25Cd.

It's already received a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

The 7GT owes a lot to the 7X in terms of exterior styling, with similar matrix LED headlights up front and a full-width light bar at the rear. A panoramic glass roof and a power tailgate are standard.

RWD and Long Range RWD variants feature 19-inch alloy wheels, while the Performance AWD upgrades to 20-inch forged wheels behind which sit orange brake calipers. The top-spec 7GT also features Active Air Suspension with continuous damping control.

Inside, there's a 15.4-inch 2.5K mini-LED infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 35.5-inch augmented reality head-up display, a 13-inch digital instrument cluster, a pair of 50W wireless phone chargers, and heated, ventilated and massaging front seats with 14-way power adjustment. The rear seats also feature heating and power adjustment.

Zeekr says the cockpit "is crafted around the driver, who sits deep in the car, enveloped by a high centre console".

The 7GT has 456 litres of boot space, expanding to 1390L with the rear seatbacks folded; there's a secondary compartment beneath the load floor for concealing items.

Standard active safety and driver-assist technology includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and Surround Reality View, which is claimed to highlight "surrounding vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and road markings across the head-up display and central screen".

There's also Automatic Park Assist, which can identify suitable diagonal, perpendicular and parallel spaces and park the vehicle, with Remote Smart Parking Assist allowing you to move the vehicle from outside of it.

"The 7GT combines the sleek proportions of a sporting grand tourer with the versatility and everyday usability of a modern shooting brake, creating a distinctive new option for Australian EV buyers," says Zeekr Australia.

Indeed, there are no direct rivals for the 7GT. The upcoming Denza Z9 GT is larger and will likely be more expensive, and the BMW i5 and Porsche Taycan wagons both start at over $200,000.

As with other Zeekr vehicles, the 7GT will be backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty and an eight-year, 160,000km battery warranty, as well as five years of roadside assistance.

Zeekr says it's set to expand its national retail network to more than 25 dealers by the end of 2026. It currently has 15 retailers and a handful of pop-ups across Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia.

The Chinese auto brand, part of the Geely empire, only arrived here late in 2024. Its X and 009 sold in modest numbers until the brand was kicked into gear with the late 2025 arrival of the 7X, which has proved enormously popular.
