Zeekr Australia has released its first over-the-air (OTA) software update for its answer to the top-selling Tesla Model Y, the 7X mid-size electric SUV, which arrived in local showrooms late last year and has quickly become the brand's most popular model.

Available in Australia from today (June 2, 2026), the update adds Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), a digital key for Apple iPhone users, as well as navigation and infotainment upgrades.

The update will be applied automatically to all Zeekr 7X variants, with owners able to manage installation via the SUV's 16.0-inch touchscreen.

“This update is exactly what modern electric ownership should deliver. Our 7X customers are gaining new features that make their vehicle even smarter, easier to live with and more enjoyable to drive,” said Zeekr Australia managing director Frank Li in a media release. "It reflects our commitment to continuous innovation and delivering real benefits over time."

The update adds a straight-line function to the RSPA system, allowing drivers to remotely move their 7X forwards or backwards using an Apple iPhone. Zeekr says this will help owners manoeuvre the electric SUV into tighter parking spaces.

iPhone users will also gain access to a CCC 3.0 digital key, enabling the vehicle to be unlocked using a smartphone without the need for a physical key.

Zeekr Australia says the OTA update also improves Apple CarPlay functionality, delivering smoother operation and improved usability.

Completing the update are revised alert tones, indicator sounds and audible notifications designed to be less intrusive.

The 7X was launched in Australia in September 2025 as the Chinese brand's third model, following the X small SUV and 009 people mover, and has since become its most popular vehicle.

Year-to-date, the 7X is Australia's third-best selling electric vehicle (EV). In April 2026, Zeekr delivered 973 examples, allowing the 7X to outsell the Model Y for the first time in a single month.

Following that result, Zeekr vice president Mars Chen told CarExpert the company is confident it can sell 2000 7Xs per month, which would be enough to challenge the Model Y for EV sales leadership.

The Model Y has been Australia's best-selling EV for the past three years, having taken the title from its stablemate, the Tesla Model 3 sedan.
