Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series SUVs converted into dual-cab utes by Creative Conversions will set you back as much as a fully-loaded American pickup truck.

A spokesperson for the Queensland-based company said its LandCruiser 300 conversions cost between $58,200 and $72,900, depending on which option you pick.

These prices aren’t fixed, with the spokesperson advising prices can differ based on what you want to get done exactly.

This conversion price doesn’t take into account the cost of the vehicle, which you’ll need to provide yourself.

Pricing for the 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series currently starts at $89,990 before on-road costs for the GX, and extends to $138,790 before on-road costs for the Sahara ZX.

Adding the costs of the vehicle and the conversion together, this means you’ll be paying between $150,000 and $210,000 in total.

To put this into context, the 2022 RAM 3500 Laramie costs $168,950 before on-road costs and the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD LTZ Premium costs $144,990 before on-road costs.

Both of these American pickups are physically larger, use more powerful V8 engines, and offer more towing and payload capacity than the LandCruiser 300 from factory.

Creative Conversions currently offers two different wheelbase extension lengths700mm and 800mm – for the LandCruiser 300 as part of its dual-cab ute conversions.

The standard LandCruiser 300 has a 2850mm wheelbase.

The wheelbase extensions allow for a number of tray and canopy options ranging in length from 1800mm to 2100mm.

As an example, Creative Conversions recommends that a standard 1980mm-long tray or canopy will suit either wheelbase extension.

In addition to the wheelbase extensions, Creative Conversions also offers three different second-stage manufacture conversions options which increases the gross vehicle mass (GVM) and gross combined mass (GCM).

For context, the regular 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 wagon has a 3280kg GVM, a 6750kg GCM, and a 3500kg braked towing capacity.

The first conversion option ups the GVM to 3800kg and the GCM to 7300kg, which are increases of 520kg and 550kg, respectively, compared to the regular wagon.

The second conversions option bumps the GVM to 4495kg and the GCM to 7995kg, increases of 1215kg and 1245kg.

The third conversion options boosts the GVM to 4495kg and the GCM to 8200kg, and is the only one to boost braked towing capacity. It increases it by 700kg to 4200kg.

Creative Conversions hasn’t noted any powertrain modifications.

The 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series is available locally with a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine producing 227kW of power and 700Nm of torque. This is up 27kW and 50Nm than the V8 turbo-diesel in the LandCruiser 200.

As we’ve previously reported numerous times, the LandCruiser 300 is currently experiencing high demand and there is short supply due to production cuts and suspensions. Current Australian wait times for the LandCruiser 300 exceed 12 months.

Creative Conversions suggests if you have an order for a LandCruiser 300 and want a dual-cab conversions to speak with your Toyota dealer and have the vehicle redirected straight from Japan to its facility to save on transport costs and time.

Dual-cab ute conversions for vehicles such as the LandCruiser and Nissan Patrol have become popular over the years within overlanding and off-roading communities for those who want the interior space of a wagon SUV with the added flexibility and practicality of a dual-cab ute.

Creative Conversions has been in operation for over 30 years and specialises in LandCruiser conversions.

A spokesperson said the company has completed over 250 conversions of LandCruiser 200 vehicles in the last 12 months.
