Toy Story 5-themed Porsche 911s fetch $3 million for charity

The three Porsche 911 specials inspired by some of the film's best-known characters are touring the US before being handed over to their new owner.

Three official one-off Porsche 911s inspired by the beloved Buzz Lightyear, Woodie and Jessie characters from the Toy Story franchise have been sold to a well-heeled anonymous buyer, generating $3 million for three US charities.

The fifth instalment of the popular animated movie franchise was released on June 19, just in time for school holidays in most Australian states, after the trio of exclusive 911s was revealed at the film’s red-carpet world premiere in Los Angeles last month.

Rather than being display-only movie props, each is a fully functioning Porsche 911, extensively customised by Porsche’s Sonderwunsch 'special wishes' department in collaboration with Disney and Pixar.

The unnamed Porsche collector and philanthropist, who credits his faith and family as his biggest motivators, has committed to donating $1 million to each of the non-profit organisations Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the American Red Cross, and Starlight Children’s Foundation.

The unique 911s are currently touring the US at events hosted by the non-profit organisations, and are expected to be formally handed over to their new owner during Monterey Car Week in August.

“When we first learned about the project – the incredible cars and the work these charities do for children and families – we knew it was a natural fit,” said the anonymous buyer.

“Our passion for unique Porsches and giving back runs as deep as our love of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the Toy Story 5 characters.

“Seeing the teams at Porsche and Pixar come together with their creativity and resources to bless and inspire others is something that is easy to get behind, matching our resources with theirs to expand the potential impact. It truly hits on all cylinders for us, and we hope it inspires others to do the same.”

The wildest of the three is, unsurprisingly, the Buzz Lightyear-inspired Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Based on the 992.1-series GT3 RS, it wears a colour scheme inspired by Buzz’s Space Ranger suit, mixing white, green and purple highlights across its already outlandish bodywork.

The huge rear wing is the obvious visual link to Buzz’s own pop-out wings, while the car also features white magnesium wheels, Space Ranger centre caps, and bespoke Goodyear tyres with ‘Lightyear’ lettering on the sidewalls.

Inside, the Buzz theme continues with Pebble Grey leather, Arctic Grey Race-Tex, Violeta leather highlights, green stitching and green seatbelts.

There are also illuminated door sills carrying Buzz’s famous “To Infinity and Beyond” catchphrase.

Jessie has been represented by something a little less hardcore, but no less theatrical: a 2026 Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS.

The Jessie-inspired 911 is finished in a specially developed Jessie White Metallic paint, created to reference the pearl buttons on the cowgirl’s western shirt.

It also features Cobalt Blue Metallic, Atacama Yellow and GTS Red exterior details, while the red Targa roof is designed to mimic Jessie’s hat.

Porsche has even replaced the usual ‘Targa’ script on the roll bar with ‘Jessie’ lettering in a Porsche-style font.

The cabin is suitably loud, with Dark Night Blue, Bordeaux Red and Pebble Grey leather, denim-look fabric trim, cowhide-pattern floor mats, and illuminated ‘YEE HAW!’ door sills.

Completing the trio is a Woody-inspired Porsche 911 Carrera T.

It’s finished in a custom denim-style exterior treatment designed to mimic the look of worn blue jeans, using a mix of Golf Blue, White and Dark Sea Blue.

Coffee Black and Aurum accents reference other parts of Woody’s outfit, while Fire Red graphics carrying Woody’s name run along the lower doors.

Inside, the Carrera T gets Speed Yellow leather inlays with a red chequered pattern, brown vintage leather, Dark Night Blue leather, denim-look seat inserts, cowhide-pattern floor mats, and illuminated door sills reading ‘Ride Like the Wind!’.

If all of that sounds familiar, it’s because Porsche and Pixar have worked together before.

In 2022, Porsche created the Sally Special, a one-off 911 inspired by Sally Carrera from Pixar’s Cars franchise.

That car was based on a 911 Carrera GTS and sold at auction for US$3.6 million, with proceeds going to charity.

This new trio takes a different approach. Rather than recreating a vehicle character, Porsche has interpreted Toy Story characters as 911 variants that match their personalities.

Buzz gets the most extreme track-focused model, Jessie gets the open-roof Targa with western-themed details, and Woody gets the more driver-focused Carrera T with a denim-inspired finish.

It’s also a reminder of just how far Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program can go.

The division allows customers to commission highly personalised vehicles, including bespoke paint colours, trim materials, interior finishes and one-off design details.

In other words, these Toy Story 5 cars are exaggerated examples of something Porsche will do for very well-heeled customers.

Toy Story 5 itself isn’t about cars, unlike Pixar’s Cars franchise. The latest Toy Story film sees Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the gang facing a very modern threat to playtime in the form of Lilypad, a smart tablet.

It's currently screening in Hoyts, Village, Palace and Event cinemas.
