Tesla dashcam catches flying fish smashing windscreen

The windshield of a parked Tesla was damaged after a fish seemingly fell from the sky, with the 'incident' captured by its inbuilt dashcam.

A couple in the US have been left perplexed after their Tesla’s dashcam captured footage of a fish seemingly falling from the sky and smashing their car’s windscreen while parked in their driveway.

The incident reportedly occurred over the weekend and the Tesla’s dashcam footage was shown as part of a TV broadcast by ABC7NY, later uploaded to YouTube.

The New Jersey couple, Cynthia and Jeff Levine, claim they didn’t know anything happened at first.

“The car started honking, it went crazy honking which we never heard, I didn’t know how to turn it off,” said Ms Levine in an interview with ABC7NY.

“I went out and [Jeff] was in the yard somewhere, he heard the crash and everything but ignored it.”

Once the couple saw and realised their Tesla was damaged they were shocked.

“We were like holy crap look at this, and I said to him, it looks like fish scales and blood on the windshield,” said Ms Levine.

It was first believed someone threw the fish at the couple’s Tesla, but upon close inspection it’s believed that a bird flying nearby dropped the fish from its mouth.

The New Jersey couple reportedly live around 1.5km away from Raritan Bay, which is likely where the dropped fish came from.

“We also have an eagles nest in our backyard… so we think it was probably the eagle,” said Ms Levine.

The couple’s Tesla was reportedly expected to return with from the repair shop with a fixed windscreen earlier this week.
