Subaru is recalling 5402 examples of its high-riding Outback wagon due to a software issue with its ‘EyeSight’ pre-collision braking system.
This recall only affects current sixth-generation Outback models sold from 2020 to 2021.
“Due to a software issue in the pre-collision braking system of the EyeSight system, the pre-collision braking feature may be activated unexpectedly,” the company says in its recall notice.
“An unexpected activation of the pre-collision braking feature may lead to an accident causing injury or death of vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

If you own one of the affected vehicles, you’ll need to book in your vehicle at any authorised Subaru service centre for a free fix.
If you have any further questions or concerns, you can call Subaru Australia on 1800 226 643.
