Skoda Australia has announced it has “renewed supply” of a number of its models amid production crises that have plagued the company previously.

The Czech brand’s local division claims it now has examples of the Octavia liftback and wagon, Kamiq small SUV, and Karoq SUV coming into dealers which can be ordered now.

Skoda has been forecasting Australian supply from its European plants will have a “full normalisation” by mid-year since August last year.

The company has previously been struggling with supply on a number of its models due to semiconductor and component shortages. It continues to remove certain features on Australian-specification models due these reasons.

Skoda Australia director Michael Irmer said “securing supply of the brand’s core range is the news customers have been waiting for”.

The local Skoda Octavia liftback and wagon range currently consists of the Style and RS, following the axing of the entry-level Ambition for 2023. The 140TSI Limited Edition isn’t currently on sale either.

The Kamiq small SUV range consists of the Style, Monte Carlo and Signature Edition variants. The Style is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, whereas the rest of the range is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

Lastly, the Karoq medium SUV range consists of the Style with its Varioflex rear seats that can be removed, as well as the Sportline that’s powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with all-wheel drive.

The carmaker’s local arm is currently forecasting an all-time sales record for 2023 since the brand launched here in its present incarnation in 2007 – a combination of delivering existing orders, and growing its customer base.

While Skoda management wouldn’t confirm its internal sales target on the record in January this year, company sources told us around 12,000 units for calendar year 2023 was the aim. The brand’s best year so far in Australia was 2021, when it recorded 9185 sales.

Beyond this, Skoda Australia has confirmed mid-life updates of the Scala, Octavia and Kamiq will be arriving in 2024.

Production of Australian-specification Enyaq iV and Enyaq iV Coupe electric SUVs will also be commencing next year. It’s understood first examples of these will start arriving in mid-2024.
