Porsche has teased the flagship performance variant of its Taycan electric vehicle (EV), understood to be the production version of the model which set a new Nürburgring record last year.
In a post on social media platform X – formerly known as Twitter – Porsche announced the “world premiere of the most dynamic Taycan of all time” will take place on March 12 at midnight AEDT.
Though little else other than a shadowy image has been released, it’s likely the Taycan in question is the new Turbo GT grade – differentiated by its fixed rear wing, rear diffuser and front splitter.

Last year, a pre-production Porsche Taycan Turbo GT reset the record for the fastest electric sedan around the 20.8-kilometre Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany, with a time of seven minutes and 7.55 seconds.
It dethroned the Tesla Model S Plaid which had achieved a lap time of 7:25.23, while coming agonisingly close to the outright EV record held by the Rimac Nevara hypercar at 7:05.28.
No official details about the Taycan Turbo GT have been revealed, though it’s expected to offer even bigger figures than the existing Taycan Turbo S flagship, which produces up to 700kW of power when launch control is activated.

The Porsche Taycan launched globally in 2020, with Australian deliveries starting in 2021. Porsche’s electric sedan was facelifted earlier this year, ahead of a local arrival in mid-2024.
It’s not yet known when the Taycan Turbo GT will come to Australia.
