Mercedes-Benz Australia is recalling 22 examples of its S450 luxury large sedan because the wiring of the rear left and right airbags may have been installed the wrong way around.

This recall affects S450 models sold in 2021.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the wiring of the rear left and right airbags may have been reversed,” says the company in its recall notice.

“Attempted deactivation of a side airbag may result in the opposite side airbag being deactivated and the intended airbag remaining operational.”

If you own an affected vehicle you’ll need to contact your nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule in a free fix.

If you have any further questions you can call the Mercedes-Benz customer assistance centre on 1300 300 896.
