Mercedes-Benz recalls over 58,000 vehicles in Australia

Mercedes-Benz Australia is recalling over 58,000 vehicles across several model lines as they may not automatically shift into park.

"Due to a manufacturing defect, the door-lock microswitch may be susceptible to water damage and could fail. If this occurs, the door may not be detected as open, preventing the auto park feature from operating as intended," the company says in its recall notice.

This refers to the vehicle shifting into park when the door is opened.

"A loss of auto park feature may result in unintended vehicle movement. This increases the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users," the notice reads.

"Driver should always engage the Park position on the gear selector and apply the parking brake, as described in the Owner’s Manual, prior to leaving the vehicle."

The recall affects 58,822 vehicles produced between 2018 and 2026 across the following model lines:

• A-Class: A180, A180d, A200, A200d, A250, A250 4Matic, A250e, AMG A35 4Matic, AMG A45 S 4Matic, AMG A45 S 4Matic+
• B-Class: B180, B200
• C-Class: C200, C300, AMG C43 4Matic, AMG C63 S E Performance, AMG C63 S 4Matic
• CLA: CLA200, CLA250 4Matic, AMG CLA35 4Matic, AMG CLA45 S 4Matic, AMG CLA45 S 4Matic+
• CLE: CLE200, CLE300 4Matic
• EQA: EQA250, EQA250+, EQA350 4Matic
• GLA: GLA200, GLA200d, GLA250 4Matic, AMG GLA35 4Matic, AMG GLA45 S 4Matic, AMG GLA S 4Matic+
• GLB: GLB180, GLB200, GLB250 4Matic
• GLC: GLC300 4Matic, AMG GLC43 4Matic, AMG GLC63 S E Performance
