Over the past few years Mazda has rolled out a quartet of new, medium-to-large SUVs based on its rear/all-wheel drive Large Architecture, all of which can be had with turbocharged inline six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. However, since launch the diesels have had more stringent servicing requirements.

Diesel versions of the CX-60, CX-70, CX-80 and CX-90 have required servicing every 12 months or 10,000km, while petrol and plug-in hybrid variants have had the same duration interval (12 months) but a different mileage interval (15,000km).

Mazda has now aligned the service intervals of all three powertrain types, with all CX-60, CX-70, CX-80 and CX-90 variants now requiring servicing every 12 months or 15,000km.

"Since the introduction of the CX-60, Mazda Corporation has undertaken a study in relation to the service internals for the 3.3 litre, six-cylinder, diesel engines. The vehicles have always required servicing every 12 months and that remains the same," said a Mazda Australia spokesperson.

"After working closely with the engineering team in Japan, we are pleased to advise that the service interval for all vehicles with the 3.3 litre, six-cylinder, diesel engine – CX-60, CX-70, CX-80 and CX-90 – will now be the same as the petrol variants of the model i.e. every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever occurs first. This also applies to vehicles which have been delivered to customers.

"Mazda Australia will update the Next Service Date calculation on its website and update the service reminders to reflect the service requirements."

Service pricing under the new schedule is now visible for all affected Mazda Australia models on the company's website.

The change means all combustion-powered Mazdas in Australia now have the same servicing intervals. The electric Mazda 6e liftback differs with longer 12-month, 20,000km intervals.

There are still some medium-to-large SUVs with 12-month/10,000km servicing intervals, including hybrid versions of the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe.
