Mahindra XUV 3XO price cut makes it Australia’s cheapest SUV

The Mahindra XUV 3XO small SUV has received a $1500 price cut, making it Australia’s equal-cheapest SUV alongside its arch-rival, the Chery Tiggo 4.

The XUV 3XO now starts at $22,490 drive-away for the entry-level AX5L variant, while the higher-specification AX7L flagship is priced from $25,490 drive-away. Both prices are $1500 below the regular drive-away prices of each grade.

The offer applies only to 2025-build vehicles and is currently scheduled to run until October 31, 2026.

It matches a discount currently being offered by Chery Australia for non-hybrid versions of the Tiggo 4, comprising a $1500 factory bonus on 2025-build vehicles. However, Chery’s offer is currently scheduled to end on September 30, 2026.

That makes the two Tiggo 4 variants identically priced to their XUV 3XO counterparts under their respective promotions, with the Tiggo 4 Urban available from $22,490 drive-away and the Tiggo 4 Ultimate from $25,490 drive-away.

Mahindra Australia has also announced a $1000 discount for the XUV 3XO Black Anniversary Edition, reducing its price to $27,485 drive-away.

Based on the flagship AX7L, the Anniversary Edition adds blacked-out badging, gloss-black alloy wheels, dark aluminium scuff plates, and a rear luggage tray.

The XUV 3XO was launched in Australia in July 2025 with two variants. The entry-level AX5L was initially offered at an introductory price of $23,490 drive-away, $500 below its regular price.

All XUV 3XO variants are powered by a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 82kW of power and 200Nm of torque, driving the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Petrol versions of the Tiggo 4 use a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 108kW and 210Nm, driving the front wheels through a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

Chery also offers a hybrid version of the Tiggo 4, priced from $29,990 drive-away.

XUV 3XO sales are not included in the official VFACTS data supplied by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, as Mahindra does not report its figures to the industry body.

However, the small SUV segment in which the smallest Mahindra competes is highly popular, with the Tiggo 4 ranking as Australia’s seventh-best seller overall in August.

The latest discount comes after the larger Mahindra XUV700 became Australia’s cheapest seven-seat SUV. A $10,000 price cut announced earlier this month reduced its starting price to $33,990 drive-away.
