Mahindra XUV 3XO Black Edition priced: Affordable light SUV gets stealth look

The Mahindra XUV 3XO Black Edition has arrived in Australian showrooms to celebrate the first anniversary of the light SUV's local release last year, when it became the nation's equal-cheapest new SUV alongside the Chery Tiggo 4.

Limited to 300 units, the XUV 3XO Black Edition is priced from $28,485 drive-away, marking a $1495 premium over the flagship AX7L on which it is based, and adds a stealthy black theme inside and out.

This includes Stealth Black exterior paint with a Matte Galvano Grey roof, gloss-black 17-inch alloy wheels with black centre caps, a black grille, and black exterior badging.

Inside, the Black Edition adds a rear luggage tray and dark aluminium door sills.

Otherwise, it carries over the AX7L's standard equipment, including LED front fog lights, black leatherette upholstery, matching dashboard and door trim, a panoramic 'Skyroof' sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are standard, along with a Harman Kardon premium audio system with amplifier and subwoofer, plus a cooled glovebox.

Every XUV 3XO is powered by an 82kW/200Nm 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, matched to a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Claimed combined fuel consumption is 6.5L/100km.

Mahindra Australia does not report its sales through the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries' (FCAI) official VFACTS registry, but the XUV 3XO entered one of Australia's most competitive new-vehicle segments when it was launched locally on July 2, 2025.

The entry-level XUV 3XO AX5L's $23,990 drive-away price matched that of the larger Chery Tiggo 4 Urban, making the pair Australia's cheapest new SUVs.

Chery sold 13,368 Tiggo 4s in Australia during the first six months of 2026, making it the country's best-selling small SUV.

Mahindra also offers Australia's cheapest seven-seat SUV, with the XUV700 priced from $37,990 drive-away, undercutting the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max Urban by $1000.
