Toyota Motor Corporation has filed a range of new trademarks in Europe and Australia, hinting at a new electric model for its luxury subsidiary brand, Lexus.

As first discovered by Lexus RX Owners and later reported by Carscoops, Toyota has filed trademarks for the HZ300e, HZ450e, and HZ550e with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

The Japanese carmaker has also lodged a trademark application for HZ300e with IP Australia under Class 12 (Automobiles and structural parts thereof).

At this stage it’s unclear what this new electric Lexus model could look like. The luxury Japanese currently has two all-electric models – the UX 300e and the RZ 450e – which are both SUVs and offered in Australia.

Earlier this year Lexus trademarked the TZ450e and TZ550e in Europe, which likely points toward a larger three-row counterpart to the RZ.

Given this, the new Lexus HZ could potentially slot underneath the RZ. It could also potentially be a passenger vehicle instead of a crossover.

Earlier this year Toyota announced it will launch 10 new electric cars by 2026, by which time it aims to be selling 1.5 million pure-electric vehicles globally.

Lexus also revealed the LF-ZC electric sedan and LF-ZL electric crossover concepts at this year’s Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. The former is set for an international release in 2026.

By 2030, Lexus will stop selling combustion-powered vehicles in regions such as North America, Europe and China. From 2035, Lexus will only sell electric vehicles globally.
