Kia is recalling 1694 examples of its Cerato hatch and sedan due to an issue with the instructions for the jack.

“The label with the required safety information and instructions may not have been affixed to the vehicle jack as required,” the company says in its recall notice.

“This may result in inappropriate use of the vehicle jack.

“If the vehicle jack is used inappropriately, the raised vehicle may fall. This would increase the risk of serious injury or death to anyone under or near the vehicle.

“The supplied jack may not be compliant with the mandatory standard for vehicle jacks, AS/NZS 2693:2007.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to schedule an appointment at a Kia dealership to have the jack inspected, free of charge.

If you have any questions, you can contact Kia on 131 542.
