Jetour’s Australian lineup could include new electric SUV

Jetour, one of myriad brands under the Chery umbrella, is coming to Australia next year and local trademark filings have provided further indication as to which models we can expect here from the Chinese automaker.

The brand has previously confirmed it will enter the Australian market in 2027, and that it plans to bring the T1 and T2 crossover SUVs and the body-on-frame G700 large SUV and F700 dual-cab ute Down Under.

Trademark filings reported by IP Australia between July 27 and August 4, 2026, however, also include the S06, TX, T8, T600 and T700.

It’s possible T700 is an alternative or backup name for the G700, to avoid a trademark challenge from Mercedes-Benz which sells the G-Class. T600 could, likewise, be an alternative name for the upcoming G600 off-road SUV.

The S06 is better known as the Dashing, which already forms part of Jetour’s lineup in export markets such as the Middle East.

In some markets, it’s badged as the Soueast S06, with Soueast being Jetour’s more budget-focused sister brand – and yet another member of the wider Chery Group that has been mooted for a potential Australian launch.

Launched in 2022, the Dashing mid-size SUV measures 4600mm long, 1900mm wide and 1685mm tall on a 2720mm wheelbase, making it almost identical in size to the top-selling Toyota RAV4.

It’s available with a 115kW/230Nm turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Though it’s similar in size to the T1 bound for Australia, it features sleeker styling.

As for the TX and T8, these are significantly newer models, and were revealed at this year’s Auto China motor show in Beijing.

The TX was revealed in concept form, and has subsequently appeared in production guise in a Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filing under the Huanyouzhe nameplate.

Measuring 4475mm long, 1880mm wide and 1700mm tall on a 2735mm wheelbase, the new Jetour EV slots between the small Jaecoo J5 and mid-size Geely EX5 SUVs in terms of footprint.

The Huanyouzhe is offered with either a single 200kW electric motor or a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain with 75kW front and 200kW rear electric motors.

The T8 is a significantly larger SUV, featuring a third row of seating. While official details are scant, Jetour has claimed it'll offer a pure electric range of over 300km; it's understood to measure over five metres long on a three-metre-long wheelbase, and feature a turbocharged petrol plug-in hybrid powertrain.

These Australian trademark filings point to a fleshed-out lineup of SUVs for the Jetour brand, comprising medium and large crossover SUVs, and large ladder-frame off-road ute and SUV models.

Jetour vehicles will be distributed separately from other Chery Group brands such as Chery, Omoda Jaecoo, and the upcoming Lepas, Freelander and iCaur marques.

In a Chinese press release translated to English, the brand called itself "the pioneer and global popularizer of the boxy SUV category" and "China's global champion of boxy SUVs".
