The Ineos Grenadier commenced Australian deliveries early on in the second half of 2023, and the brand’s regional boss says Australia is already the brand’s fourth largest market.

Speaking with CarExpert at the local media launch of the Grenadier, head of Ineos APAC region Justin Hocevar said over 900 vehicles will be delivered across Australia and New Zealand before the end of 2023, with more than 800 of those hitting Australian driveways.

“The order bank started some time ago for us… this year we’ll deliver over 900 vehicles across Australia and New Zealand – and really we started in June,” Mr Hocevar said.

“So really, in that four- to five-month period, we’ve condensed that amount of volume across two markets. Most of it’s in Australia, of course. It’s over 800 for Australia and just under 100 for New Zealand so far.”

Mr Hocevar added the company still has backorders it’s fulfilling into the new year.

“We still haven’t delivered all of our order bank, we carry over an order bank into early next year, which will see us through the first quarter of 2024 and probably just into Q2,” Mr Hocevar said.

While Ineos doesn’t report its volume to VFACTS – as it’s not a member of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) – a figure of 800+ units year to date has the 4×4 upstart within reach of the Jeep Wrangler (1015 units YTD) and well ahead of the Land Rover Discovery (465 units YTD).

According to Mr Hocevar, Australia as a market is sitting in fourth place for the Grenadier, behind the US and UK markets, and narrowly behind Germany.

That volume is expected to grow in 2024, with the introduction of the Grenadier Quartermaster ute, effectively a tray-backed version of the brand’s 4×4 wagon.

Set to arrive next year in both dual-cab ute and cab-chassis body variants, the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster is already available to order in dual-cab guise with prices starting from $110,000 before on-road costs. The cab-chassis version will be detailed at some point in 2024.
