Forthing Australia is offering a $2500 Visa gift card with every new vehicle purchased and delivered by the end of 2026, including Australia’s cheapest mid-size electric SUV and cheapest extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) of any size.

The Visa gift card offer applies to the brand’s only model, formally launched in September. Originally named Taikon 5, it's temporarily being marketed under its powertrain names following trademark challenges from Porsche and Volkswagen.

The lineup starts with the Forthing Range Extender Hybrid Luxury at $36,990 drive-away, undercutting the Leapmotor B10 Hybrid’s advertised drive-away starting price by $2000.

It uses a 75kW/130Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as a generator, with a 120kW/240Nm electric motor driving the rear wheels. Claimed combined range is 937km on the WLTP cycle, with up to 170km under electric power.

Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloys, LED headlights, leatherette upholstery, a 14.6-inch centre touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera, adaptive cruise control and six airbags.

The higher-spec Forthing Range Extender Hybrid Exclusive is priced at $40,490 drive-away and adds a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, rear privacy glass and a powered tailgate.

The Forthing Electric Luxury starts at $38,990 drive-away and uses a 150kW/340Nm electric motor driving the front wheels, with a 64kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery providing a claimed 427km WLTP range.

That compares with 345km for the entry-level BYD Atto 3 Essential and 475km for the Geely EX5 Complete.

As with the EREV, there’s a $3500 step up from the Luxury to the Exclusive model grade, with the Forthing Electric Exclusive priced at $42,490 drive-away.

Both EV models have the same standard equipment as the EREV versions but also come with keyless start.

While the SUV is currently the brand’s only model in local showrooms, Forthing also showed a left-hand-drive Tk7 plug-in hybrid people mover at the Everything Electric show in Sydney last month.

Forthing has confirmed an electrified people mover for Australia, previewed by the Tk7, with plug-in hybrid and electric power planned. Its final Australian name, specifications and seating configuration remain unconfirmed.
