Ford Australia has recalled 13 examples of the Ranger after it was discovered the ute’s engine software may cause it to be non-compliant with Australian regulations.
“Due to a software issue, the engine may generate more soot than intended which could cause the vehicle to trigger more frequent regenerations of Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF),” the carmaker said in its recall notice.
“This could result in the vehicle producing emissions outside the requirements of Emissions Standards Regulations. This may also lead to potential failure of the DPF.
“There is no safety hazard associated with this recall and the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle. Vehicles that experience this issue may not comply with Australian Design Rule 79/04 – Emissions Control for Light Vehicles.”

If you own an affected Ranger, you’ll need to contact a Ford dealer to have the vehicle rectified, free of charge.
You can also call Ford’s customer relationship centre for more information on 13 36 73.
