Ford Australia has recalled 159 examples of the Escape, due to a fault which could result in a loss of steering control.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, over time and under certain conditions friction and excessive movement in the steering gear could result in a loss of steering control,” the carmaker said in its recall notice.
“A loss of steering control could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

If you own an affected Ford Escape, you’ll be contacted by Ford to make an appointment with your preferred dealer to have the power steering assembly inspected and if needed replaced, free of charge.
You can find out more about the recall by calling Ford’s Customer Relationship Centre on 13 36 73 (13 FORD).
