Melbourne-based electric vehicle home charging provider JET Charge is growing.

The company is expanding its headquarters in Fisherman’s Bend, Melbourne, and in the process will employ a further 73 people in “high-skilled jobs in electronics, engineering and logistics”.

The headquarters expansion project is worth $3.3 million, funded with both public money in the form of cash from the Victorian Government, and private investment.

“Expanding our operations in Victoria means we can continue to grow and develop our products, manufacturing electric vehicle chargers for more people across Australia and New Zealand,” said JET Charge CEO and founder, Tim Washington.

Founded in 2014, JET Charge is a co-founder of Chargefox, Australia’s largest public EV charging network, and is the preferred company for brands such as Tesla, Porsche and Hyundai for installing and maintaining wall chargers.

Chargefox has since been sold to Australia’s motoring clubs (NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAC, RAA and RACT) through their wholly owned company Australian Motoring Services.

If you’ve charged an electric vehicle lately, odds are you interacted with software or hardware managed by JET Charge as the company supplies and maintains charging infrastructure for domestic, commercial, and government use.

It’s no stranger to government partnerships or funding; the Federal Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) invested $3.5 million in 2020 to fund the deployment of smart home charging hardware, including bi-directional chargers.

JET Charge currently offers a bi-directional charger known as the Quasar locally, among its other products.
