JLR has just revealed a hot new twin-turbo V8 flagship for its the new-generation Range Rover Sport line-up, and it’ll be available with carbon-fibre wheels produced by Australian company Carbon Revolution.

The optional 23-inch carbon-fibre wheels on the Range Rover Sport SV, dubbed a “world first”, also mark the first time Geelong-based Carbon Revolution has fitted its wheels on an SUV.

These carbon-fibre wheels offer a total weight reduction of 35.6kg compared with the conventional 23-inch cast-alloy wheels.

This is claimed to result in improved outright performance, handling and ride quality.

Carbon Revolution has confirmed production of these 23-inch carbon-fibre wheels for the Range Rover Sport SV commenced earlier this year on its ‘mega-line’.

The Range Rover Sport SV is now available to order, with customer deliveries set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023. The SV Edition One P635 currently starts at $360,800 before on-road costs.

    It’s powered by a BMW-sourced 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 467kW of power and 750Nm of torque (800Nm in Launch Mode), mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 48V mild-hybrid system.

Those outputs are up 44kW and 50Nm on the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 in the old Range Rover Sport SVR.

The company claims a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 290km/h.

Carbon Revolution has made ultra-lightweight carbon-fibre wheels for a number of vehicles including the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Ferrari SF90 Stradale and 488 Pista, Renault Megane RS Trophy-R, and the Ford GT, among others.

The company is also set to produce the carbon-fibre wheels for the forthcoming Ford Mustang Dark Horse, as well as the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray.

“We are excited to be working with JLR on our latest wheel launch, our first ever SUV wheel, and we’re delighted to see Carbon Revolution’s wheel technology feature on such an iconic global nameplate as the Range Rover,” said Carbon Revolution CEO Jake Dingle.
