Alfa Romeo's new SUV debuts app connectivity

The all-new Alfa Romeo Tonale is billed as the most technologically advanced model in the brand’s history, and it will introduce the brand’s connected services to Australia.

Called My Alfa Connect, the new net-based connected suite brings online and remote functionality via smartphone and desktop applications, and is a brand-first for our market.

Key features include remote lock and unlock of the vehicle, remote diagnostics and vehicle health checks, remote destination entry (send to the vehicle’s navigation system over the air), as well as Home to Vehicle integration via Amazon Alexa.

The full suite of features will come with a complimentary three-year subscription with vehicle purchase, with certain features to be available for a fee after the trial ends. Pricing is still to be announced.

Most of the Tonale’s rivals offer varying levels of connected functions and app compatibility, including Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

It’s unclear whether this functionality will roll out across other Alfa Romeo models, given the larger Giulia and Stelvio don’t get My Alfa Connect as part of their respective mid-life facelifts.
