Alfa Romeo has recalled the Tonale SUV to fix a problem with the 48V battery housing.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the 48 Volt battery is susceptible to water ingress if submerged for extended periods. Water ingress can cause the battery to overheat which may result in a vehicle fire,” Alfa Romeo said in its recall notice.
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or damage to property.”

Alfa Romeo will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to organise a free fix with their nearest dealer.
