2027 GMC Yukon Denali gets blacked-out special edition treatment

General Motors Australia and New Zealand (GMANZ) has given its large SUV the black-ops treatment, with the special-edition GMC Yukon Denali Signature Black now available in local showrooms.

Still the only GMC-badged vehicle available in Australia since its introduction in early 2025, the Yukon Denali is a large ladder-frame off-road SUV related to the Chevrolet Silverado pickup and priced similarly to the Lexus LX – it sure isn't cheap.

And that's even more true in the case of the Signature Black, which is priced at $181,490 before on-road costs in Australia. That's $6500 more than the regular Yukon Denali.

"The Yukon Denali Signature Black reflects how closely we listen to our customers and respond to what they want from a premium SUV," GMANZ acting managing director Greg Rowe said in a statement.

"Developed with their feedback in mind, the second-row captain’s chairs and purpose-selected 24-inch wheels, finished in a distinctive all-black treatment, give customers a more individual expression of GMC luxury."

As its name suggests, the new special edition has been comprehensively blacked out. It's finished in Onyx Black exterior paint, with various trim pieces swapped from silver chrome to new 'Black Vader Chrome' around the SUV's body.

This includes the grille, which also features an illuminated GMC emblem unique to the Signature Black. Naturally, the Signature Black adds black exterior badging and black 24-inch alloy wheels – the same size as the regular Yukon Denali.

Inside, the Signature Black offers seven-seat capacity, down from the regular SUV's eight, due to the addition of second-row captain's chairs. The cabin features Jet Black leather-appointed seat upholstery, along with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and tri-zone climate control.

There's also a new power-sliding centre console for the front row. The Yukon's 16.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone mirroring, 14-speaker Bose sound system, head-up display, and dual 12.6-inch second-row displays are unchanged.

Likewise, there are no mechanical changes. The new special edition retains the Yukon Denali's 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine, producing 313kW of power and 624Nm of torque, and mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Available only in a four-wheel drive configuration with selectable low-range gearing, it rides on adaptive 'Air Ride' dampers with 'Magnetic Ride Control', and has a maximum braked towing capacity of 3628kg.

A full suite of safety gear is headlined by a surround-view monitor system with up to 11 camera views, including 'Hitch Guidance' and 'Hitch View' for towing support. Also included are adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and trailer sway control.

Like the Australian-delivered Silverado, the Yukon Denali is converted from left- to right-hand-drive by the Walkinshaw Group in Melbourne, Victoria. The GMC Yukon Denali Signature Black is now available to order.
