The Toyota Corolla will enter 2026 with some minor pricing and specification changes, as well as a rejigged sedan lineup following the axing of the flagship ZR.
A Toyota Australia spokesperson confirmed to CarExpert that “in 2024, the ZR grade accounted for just 2.4 per cent of total Corolla Sedan sales, prompting a review of the lineup”, leaving the Ascent Sport and SX as the only remaining sedans.
Toyota’s hybrid-only hatchback and sedan range has therefore been reduced to five variants, with the remaining two sedans now $265 more expensive than they were at the start of 2025. Pricing for the three hatchback models remains the same.
The increased premium for the remaining sedans hasn’t come without extra gear, as all sedans now get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster (up from 4.2 inches) and wireless Android Auto connectivity. Previously, the 12.3-inch display was exclusive to the Corolla ZR, while Android Auto was only wired across the range.

The tweaks mean there’s now some separation between the Corolla sedans and hatches. A 7.0-inch digital instrument display remains standard in the Ascent Sport and SX hatches, with the 12.3-inch unit reserved for the ZR.
Only wired Android Auto connectivity is available across the hatch range, though wireless Apple CarPlay is standard in both sedans and hatches.
Powering the lineup range is still a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol-hybrid powertrain, producing a peak power output of 103kW – Toyota doesn’t state a combined torque figure. Drive is sent to the front wheels through a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
The Corolla Hybrid is still far removed from the performance GR Corolla – albeit not as far as the smaller Yaris Hybrid and GR Yaris – for which an update bringing a stiffer body, better sustained performance, and an improved sound system is arriving in early 2026.
