The Subaru Uncharted electric SUV is arriving in Australian showrooms in the coming months, and it's set to be the smallest and most affordable Subaru electric vehicle (EV) to date.
Priced at $59,990 before on-road costs, the Uncharted slots in below Subaru's pioneering Solterra mid-size SUV, Subaru's first EV, which now starts at $61,990 before on-roads after a price cut announced this week.
The Uncharted, along with its larger Solterra and Trailseeker electric SUV stablemates, form Subaru's so-called 'Sport Electric Vehicle' (SEV) range. All three models are twinned with Toyota EVs, with the Uncharted being based on the C-HR+ small electric SUV that's also coming to Australia, but not until mid-2027.
Rivals include other compact electric SUVs like the BYD Atto 3, Hyundai Kona Electric, and Kia EV3, though it's slightly larger, and its price is best aligned with the top-spec versions of each.

Australian-spec Uncharted vehicles will be fitted with a 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery sourced from Chinese manufacturer CATL, enabling a claimed electric driving range of 522km on the WLTP cycle. It can support DC fast-charging at up to 150kW, with a 10-80 per cent charge claimed to take 30 minutes.
A cut-price front-wheel drive option is available in the US, but all Australian-delivered models will exclusively feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive configuration, in keeping with all local Subarus except the rear-drive BRZ sports coupe. Subaru still calls this 'Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive'.
Like the Solterra, the Uncharted boasts a peak power output of 252kW, giving it a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of around five seconds. It also features Subaru's dual-mode X-Mode for off-road driving, incorporating Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control.
Inside, it's fitted with a 14.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with in-built satellite navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which sits above dual wireless phone chargers.

There's also a 7.0-inch digital instrument display mounted high on the dashboard, alongside Subaru's characteristic squared-off EV steering wheel, which is heated and wrapped in leather.
The front seats are upholstered in black synthetic leather and offer eight-way power adjustment, along with two-position memory lumbar support for the driver. These, along with the reclining outboard rear seats, are also heated.
A digital rear-view mirror is standard, as is a power tailgate and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function with a 1500W power outlet.
The Uncharted also packs a full suite of safety gear, including Subaru's Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS), Subaru Vision Assist, and driver attention monitoring – in keeping with the Japanese brand's goal of achieving zero fatal road accidents in Subaru vehicles by the year 2030.
The Uncharted is the cheapest of Subaru Australia's three current EVs.
