Chery has announced Australian pricing and specifications for its new Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid, which is set to arrive in showrooms from this month.
The Tiggo 9 will serve as the brand’s new flagship SUV, sitting above the Tiggo 8 in the local lineup. Priced from $59,990 before on-road costs, it introduces Chery’s most advanced plug-in hybrid powertrain to date and offers seven seats as standard.
Until November 30, 2025, customers who pre-order the Tiggo 9 will have their deposit matched by Chery by up to $2000.

Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with three electric motors and a 34kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined, total system outputs are 315kW and 580Nm, while Chery claims an electric-only driving range of up to 170km (NEDC) and a total range of around 1250km when both fuel and electric power are used.
Power is sent to all four wheels via an electric rear motor, with the brand’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (3DHT) managing power delivery between the petrol and electric systems.

Like the related Omoda 9, the Tiggo 9 will be offered in a single, highly specified variant dubbed the Ultimate AWD CSH.

The Tiggo 9’s hybrid system is the latest iteration of the brand’s Super Hybrid powertrain, which combines petrol and electric power delivery, which the Chinese brand says allows for smooth torque transfer and greater efficiency in mixed driving.

Multiple drive modes are available (Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow, Sand and Off-road) catering to both urban and all-terrain conditions.
Charging can be done via a Type 2 AC connection (up to 6.6kW) or CCS2 DC fast-charging (up to 71kW), which enables shorter recharge times than most plug-in hybrid rivals.
