Mercedes-Benz has been busily updating its smallest models, and a refreshed version of its hottest GLA is in the works.
A few months ago spy photographers caught a sneak peak at the facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift, and now they’ve captured the Mercedes-AMG GLA45.
It’s expected the facelift will debut later this year.
Spy photos depict only small changes to the rear design whereas the front seems to be hiding a few more changes under its camouflage.
The headlights will reportedly get a new light signature, as will the tail lights.
Camouflage on the front of the vehicle indicates there are going to be some changes to the air intakes, grille and front bumper.
New wheel designs are also expected across the GLA range.
Our spy photographers have indicated the interior of the vehicle is also expected to receive a minor update, similar to that of the recent A-Class and CLA facelifts.
The updated hatch and sedan received the latest MBUX interface, as previously seen in models like the new C-Class and S-Class.
It’s unclear if Mercedes-AMG will update the engine or powertrain in the upcoming refresh. Given the related A45 hasn’t received any powertrain updates, it seems unlikely.
Currently the Mercedes-AMG GLA45 offers a turbocharged 2.0-litre four cylinder engine that produces 310kW and 500Nm of torque, powering all four wheels.
The latest A35 AMG and CLA35, however, have gained a 48V mild-hybrid system, as has the rest of the petrol-powered A-Class and CLA line-ups.
The current-generation Mercedes-AMG GLA45 went on sale in Australia in 2020 alongside its lesser GLA siblings.
The GLA and its electric EQA spinoff are based on the MFA2 platform that also underpins the A-Class, CLA, B-Class, and the GLB.
Mercedes-Benz is debuting a new small car platform in 2024 to replace MFA2, called MMA.
