Get ready to welcome a new version of Volkswagen’s second-smallest hot hatch.
The revised Volkswagen Polo GTI melds parts from the updated city hatch with design elements inspired by its big brother, the Mk8 Golf GTI.
The first models in the facelifted Polo city hatchback range will go on sale locally from “early Q2 2022”, with the revised GTI arriving in Australia from May 2022.
A teaser released overnight shows the GTI has the facelifted Polo’s more dynamic front headlights, which includes a light bar along the bottom of the grille linking up the LED driving lights on each side.

Exclusive to the GTI is a red pinstripe for the headlights and grille.
The lower section of the front bumper has a honeycomb design similar to the Golf GTI, and LED fog lights that fit into the pattern.
Under the bonnet, the Polo GTI will continue with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. In today’s GTI, the four-cylinder is tuned to deliver 147kW and 320Nm.
It drives the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and the Extended Electronic Differential Lock system, which uses the stability control to tame torque steer.

The Polo facelift was unveiled earlier this month. Key highlights include a standard digital instrumentation screen, and the availability of matrix LED headlights.
