Land Rover has dropped the entry-level Range Rover Velar and nudged prices up slightly for 2022.

The 2022 Velar is available to order now, with the range opening at $89,147 before on-road costs for the P250 R-Dynamic S.

Prices have risen incrementally in recent months, and are up again for most model year 2022 Velar variants. Scroll down to view the full price list.

There are 14 new paint finishes available from the SV Bespoke Premium Palette or Match To Sample service, including satin-matte and ‘ultra metallic’ finishes.

The featured Velar is finished in Tourmaline Brown, while other shades in the SV Bespoke line include Amethyst-Grey Purple and Petrolix Blue.

In the regular palette, Ostuni Pearl White replaces Yulong White, while Lantau Bronze is a new addition.

Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be made available via an over-the-air update, set to be deployed before the end of 2021.

The tweaks follow a more substantial model year 2021 update that added Jaguar Land Rover’s new Pivi Pro infotainment system, as well as Cabin Air Ionisation with a PM2.5 filter.

The latter includes a Purify function, which can be scheduled via the infotainment system or the Land Rover Remote app.

The Velar continues to be offered with a choice of three powertrains.

The sole diesel option is a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder in the D200, which produces 150kW of power and 430Nm of torque.

    The P250 uses a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder with 184kW of power and 365Nm of torque, while the P400 upgrades to a 3.0-litre petrol inline-six with 294kW and 550Nm.

The D200 and P400, both introduced for 2021, feature 48V mild-hybrid systems, while all models feature an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

0-100km/h times are 8.2 seconds for the D200, 7.5 seconds for the P250, and 5.5 seconds for the P400.

JLR Australia has been paring back its model ranges, with the Velar line-up slashed from 13 variants to six for 2021.

Related to the Jaguar F-Pace, the Velar is a stronger seller locally for JLR. To the end of July 2021, JLR has sold 405 Velars against 222 F-Paces.
