Peugeot Australia has been forced to remove the Focal-branded audio system from high-spec 3008 and 5008 SUV models due to “a manufacturing irregularity”.

That irregularity – understood to be caused by ongoing component shortages and production constraints – means the Peugeot 3008 GT Sport, 3008 GT Sport Plug-in Hybrid, 5008 GT Sport and 5008 GT Diesel are currently unavailable with the Focal premium audio system.

“Peugeot Australia is working closely with Stellantis to identify when the FOCAL® premium audio system will be reintroduced to the impacted models,” said a spokesperson for Peugeot Citroen Australia (PCA).

Further, customers impacted by these changes are being contacted by PCA and being offered several resolutions.

“Customers who have taken delivery of or have a contract for an impacted vehicle will be offered a choice of either three years free scheduled servicing, or $1000 fair market value compensation, or they can choose to accept a full refund of the purchase price or cancel their order,” a spokesperson for Peugeot Citroen confirmed with CarExpert.

As a guide, three years of scheduled servicing is equivalent to $1505 for the 3008 GT Sport Petrol, $1813 for the 3008 GT Sport PHEV, $1587 for the 5008 GT Sport and $1606 for the 5008 GT Diesel.

This is the second set of running changes to come from Peugeot due to manufacturing issues, with the Expert commercial van recently losing side thorax airbags for 2022, as well as other features like adaptive cruise control.
