Interested in a Land Rover Defender?

The slightly trimmer 2022 Land Rover Defender range will be topped by a new supercharged, V8-powered flagship.

The first 2022 models will touch down in Australia in July of this year.

While the headline news is the new V8 model, there’s also a new XS Edition replacing First Edition.

Available in both short 90 and long 110 body styles but only with the P400 petrol drivetrain, the XS Edition slots in above the SE trim.

There’s body-coloured lower cladding and lower wheel arches plus 20-inch “contrast diamond-turned” alloy wheels finished in Satin Grey.

The XS Edition is available in just four exterior colours: Silicon Silver, Hakuba Silver, Gondwana Stone, and Santorini Black.

Inside, there are 12-way heated, power-adjustable leather front seats with memory, as well as illuminated sillplates.

The cross beam also has a light grey, powder-coat brushed finish.

Standard equipment includes adaptive air suspension, matrix LED headlights, a 10-speaker Meridian sound system, and the ClearSight digital rear-view mirror.

A new, 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system is also optional in the Defender for 2022.

Land Rover has trimmed the model range a bit for 2022, culling three 90 variants and one 110 model.

Axed are the SE D300, HSE P400 and X D300 in the 90 line, while the 110 loses the S P300.

The 110 HSE D300 and HSE P400 have also been replaced with X-Dynamic HSE versions.

Land Rover already made sweeping changes to the model range shortly after the Defender’s local launch, replacing the initial four-cylinder diesel engines with inline-six diesel engines.
