Volkswagen has recalled the 2015-2018 Amarok ute to fix a problem with its spare wheel winch.

The company says the cable for the spare wheel winch can be “weakened and snap when used under certain conditions (extreme dust/dirt exposure)”.

If the problem occurs, the “spare wheel will then only be secured by the secondary securing strap”.

    • A total of 19,936 cars are included in the recall
    • Affected cars were built between 1 August 2016 and 1 March 2019
    • A VIN list of affected vehicles is attached here
    • The original recall notice is attached here

Volkswagen Australia will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to organise a free fix with their nearest dealer.
