The Audi S8 is a discontinued performance limousine that added serious speed to the A8 luxury sedan formula. It is no longer on sale as a new car in Australia, but it remains one of Audi's most understated high-performance flagships. The S8 combined a powerful V8 engine, quattro all-wheel drive, a refined automatic transmission and a highly specified cabin with the comfort and rear-seat space expected of a luxury sedan. Its appeal was the contrast between subtle design and huge pace: it could cover long distances quietly, then deliver performance that felt closer to a grand tourer than a traditional limousine. It remains a distinctive option for those who value discreet performance luxury.
