2025 Volvo C40

The Volvo C40 is a compact electric SUV coupe that brought a sleeker roofline and more expressive design to Volvo's small EV lineup. It is no longer on sale as a new model in Australia, with Volvo shifting its electric range toward the EX40 and newer EX models. The C40 shared much of its hardware with the XC40 Recharge, including single- and dual-motor electric layouts depending on variant, but wrapped it in a lower, more style-focused body. Its appeal centred on quiet EV performance, strong safety credentials, a premium cabin and distinctive Scandinavian design. The trade-off was reduced rear visibility and cargo flexibility compared with a more conventional small SUV.
