The Tesla Model Y is a mid-size electric SUV and one of Australia’s most recognisable family EVs. It blends the familiar tech and instant electric performance of the Model 3 with a higher-riding wagon-style body, easier access and useful cargo space. The local range is aimed at buyers wanting a low-maintenance daily driver that can also handle school runs, commuting and weekend travel, helped by strong efficiency, over-the-air software updates and access to Tesla’s charging ecosystem. Its minimalist cabin and touchscreen-based controls give it a very modern feel, though they won’t suit everyone. A longer six-seat Model Y L is also available, and has received updates in China but these are yet to be confirmed for Australia.
