The Geely Starray EM-i is a plug-in hybrid SUV aimed at buyers who want electric driving for daily use without relying solely on charging. It sits alongside the EX5 as part of Geely's Australian relaunch, but swaps the pure-electric formula for a petrol-electric setup with long-distance flexibility. The Starray EM-i targets the growing group of families comparing affordable electrified SUVs, including plug-in hybrid rivals from Chinese, Japanese and Korean brands. Its appeal is value, efficiency and range confidence, with enough cabin space and technology to work as a main household vehicle. For Geely, it broadens the brand beyond EV-only buyers and gives it a more familiar stepping stone into electrification.
