Volkswagen Australia has recalled 157 examples of the Tiguan Allspace SUV, due to a fault which could lead to the side curtain airbags not deploying.
“Due to a manufacturing issue, the side curtain airbags may be fitted with a faulty gas generator. As a result, the airbag may not deploy as intended,” the manufacturer said in its recall notice.
“In the event of airbag deployment in an accident, the side curtain airbag may not provide adequate protection for vehicle occupants which could increase the risk of injury or death.”

If you own an affected Tiguan Allspace, you can contact your preferred Volkswagen dealer to have the curtain airbags replaced, free of charge.
You can also call Volkswagen’s Recall Campaign Hotline on 1800 504 076 for more information.
