Toyota is gearing up to produce a three-row electric crossover in 2025 in the US, and it will reportedly be building a Subaru version as well.
As reported by Automotive News, this new Subaru three-row electric crossover will be built at a facility in Georgetown, Kentucky which is currently being retooled for the two electric vehicles (EVs).
The Subaru three-row electric crossover is also expected to receive batteries from a plant that Toyota currently has under construction in Liberty, North Carolina.

Given the final assembly and battery sourcing locations are in the US, this will mean it should qualify for the full US$7500 federal tax credit for purchases under the US Government’s recently enacted Inflation Reduction Act.
This upcoming Subaru three-row electric crossover will reportedly act as an extension of the collaboration between the two Japanese carmakers which spawned the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra twins.
Both of these two-row electric SUVs are built in Japan by Toyota.

At this stage it’s unclear what this forthcoming Subaru three-row electric crossover will be called, but people familiar with the matter are referring to its Toyota counterpart as the bZ5X.
There could also be a Lexus version too, as the company trademarked TZ450e and TZ550e with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
As previously detailed, Subaru is planning to launch three new electric crossovers by the end of 2026.
It also detailed its roadmap that culminates in having the capacity to produce 400,000 EVs by 2028.

Toyota currently owns around 20 per cent of Subaru, which in turn holds a 0.3 per cent stake in Toyota.
It’s unclear whether this new three-row electric SUV will come to Australia.
Subaru hasn’t sold a three-row SUV here since the Tribeca left local showrooms in 2014.
The Tribeca was belatedly replaced in North America by the Ascent crossover in 2018, but this model has never been offered locally as it’s produced solely in left-hand drive.
