Ram 1500 recalled

Ram Trucks Australia has recalled 64 examples of the DT-series 1500 pickup, due to a fault which can prevent the driver’s airbag from deploying in a crash.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) may have not been welded to the required specifications,” the carmaker said in its recall notice.

“As a result, the SCCM could fail to send an airbag deployment signal to the Occupant Restraint Controller preventing the driver’s airbag from deploying.

“In the event of an accident, the airbag not deploying as intended could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.”

• A total of 64 vehicles built between 2019 and 2023 are affected
• The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list is attached here
• The recall notice is attached here

It’s understood the 64 vehicles affected by this recall are separate to the 166 impacted earlier this month. This recall affected vehicles built between 2023 and 2024.

If you own an affected Ram 1500, you should contact your preferred Ram dealer to have the SCCM inspected and replaced, free of charge.
